Crummock Water

To the North West of Buttermere, Crummock Water is a larger lake, around 2.5 miles long. With Melbreal and Grassmoor mountains on either side, this is a very scenic lake, and considerably quieter than Buttermere which attacts the majority of vistors to this valley. On the fellside by the South Western corner of the lake is Scale Force, at 170 ft this is the Lake District's longest waterfall.

Rannerdale, close to the South Eastern shores of the lake is well known for its carpets of Bluebells, which attract many visitors and photographers every May.
